In May of 1974, Leif Rozin started the Carpet Barn in, literally, a barn. He had a trailer within the barn that he used as a combination office and showroom. At that time, the entire area was nothing more than a farmland.

The Carpet Barn specialized in builder work and eventually made enough money to permit Leif to purchase land on Route 4 where he built the first store of the company.

In January of 1983, Leif, by chance, ran into his old friend, Buddy Kallick, a former co-worker from their days at Harry’s Corner in the late 1960’s. Buddy was working for another retail carpet chain at the time, and the two of them started reminiscing about old times in the carpet business. That conversation led to Leif’s decision to expand the business and enter the retail carpet arena. As part of that plan, Buddy left his job to join his old friend Leif and became a partner in Buddy’s Carpet Barn. The rest is history.

In January of 2000, Buddy and Leif sold their interest to a Cincinnati-based investment group, and the company's name was changed to Buddy’s Carpet & Flooring. Buddy’s now has retail outlets in Cincinnati, Dayton and Columbus, in Ohio; Florence, Kentucky; and in Indianapolis, Indiana, all of which offer the Best Buddy’s Price to their customers.

Buddy’s Carpet & Flooring is now one of the largest specialty flooring companies in America, showing up annually in Floor Covering Weekly’s national rankings. The evolution of the new Buddy’s Carpet & Flooring is further demonstrated by its National Buying Power and industry-leading commitment to customer service.

Leif and Buddy remained with the company as consultants until February of 2002 when Brenda took over the spokesperson duties from Buddy.

Despite the growth and success of the company, and the name and ownership change, Buddy’s Carpet & Flooring remains true to the original values and visions held by the company at it’s inception nearly two decades ago. Buddy’s Carpet & Flooring maintains a family atmosphere that allows employees to grow and excel as part of both the company and the community. And most importantly, Buddy’s continues to bring the highest quality, premium flooring products to our customers at the best value, all while providing exceptional customer service.
